We emphasize the Liberal Arts for another important reason: theyre the springboard to deeper creativity. You cant make art or design in a void. By stimulating your curiosity and providing a historical, social and intellectual context for your ideas, the Liberal Arts will widen your outlook, raise your awareness of the connections between individuals and cultures, and provide you with new tools to articulate your personal vision. If you want to pursue professional careers in art history or art therapy, the Liberal Arts curriculum provides courses that can lead to a minor in these areas. And because all students participate in Liberal Arts classes regardless of their individual majors, youll be exposed to new, interdisciplinary ways of thinking. The Liberal Arts Program also offers you the opportunity to embark on four weeks of travel and study abroad. In 1997, after completing a preparatory art history course, students traveled to Portugal and Spain. Their tour included visits to the Azulejo (Tile) Museum, the Islamic Palace of Alhambra, Gaudis Sagrada Familia Church, the Picasso and Miro museums and the Prado.
