How
to Finance Your Education at the Center for Creative Studies-College
of Art and Design
how about
me?
We know how eager you are to begin to prepare for your career as an
artist or designer. After making the decision to pursue a visual art
education, you're probably questioning how you will pay for your education.
You may also be wondering if you qualify for financial aid and what
portion of your costs will be covered.
We at CCS
believe that financial aid is a way for both the student and the College
to simplify the task of getting on with your education. Getting your
financial concerns out of the way early will enable you to take full
advantage of your experience at CCS.
how much?
Is it going to cost me more to attend CCS than to attend a public college
or university?
Not necessarily:
At CCS, we are committed to helping you finance your education by offering
competitive financial aid packages and scholarship opportunities. After
receiving your complete financial aid award, contact either your financial
aid or admissions counselor for assistance in determining your out-of-pocket
costs. This information will allow you to make the most informed decision
about financing your college education.
how many?
How many currently enrolled CCS students receive some form of financial
assistance? Ninety percent of CCS students receive some form of scholarship,
grant, loan and employment assistance, totaling $7 million dollars.
how will
I know?
After filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and
receiving the Student Aid Report (SAR), how will you know how much aid
you are qualified to receive? If your SAR indicates that you are not
eligible for the Pell Grant (this is only one form of assistance), do
not assume that you are ineligible for any financial assistance. Shortly
after you receive your SAR, our Financial Aid Office will prepare your
financial aid award, which will include aid from all Federal, State
and Institutional sources through which you are qualified to receive
funds.
how it
works?
The Application Deadline The earlier you begin working on your financial
aid application the better your chances are at maximizing your financial
award. We recommend that high school seniors apply by February 21, and
transfer students apply by March 21. Maximum consideration for competitive
institutional scholarships is given to those who apply and complete
the admissions process by March 1. However, applications will continue
to be processed through the end of the school year. Please note: The
financial aid process takes four to six weeks to complete.
how to
apply?
First, apply for admission to CCS-CAD. Scholarships are determined after
an evaluation of the student's portfolio and academic achievement. Scholarships
range from $1,500 to full tuition.
Second,
fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This
application is available through your high school guidance office, your
current college or university financial aid office, or from us at CCS.
We strongly
encourage everyone to complete the FAFSA. Be sure to list Center For
Creative Studies, code 006771, in Section G of the FAFSA.
how
we award?
The awarding philosophy at CCS is intended to remove cost as a barrier
to education and to result in fair and equitable awards for all students.
CCS uses a merit (artistic/academic excellence) and need component (based
on FAFSA) to determine the percentage of gift aid students receive from
all sources. Assuming the student continues to meet eligibility requirements,
the institutional portion of these awards will continue for up to four
years. Self-help aid is awarded according to the student's need and
eligibility.
